Soft sweet apple, warming cinnamon, crunchy walnuts with delicious honey hits all of the sweet spots when it comes to texture and taste in this superfood porridge recipe.
Using The Calming One Superfood Powder Mix
In this recipe we are using 1 tsp of The Calming One. This is a mix of Reishi, Ashwagandha, Cinnamon, Banana, Oatmeal and Carob. The flavour in wonderfully warming and well.. calming!
- Ashwagandha imparticular contains plant chemicals that helps us to resist physical and mental stress. As well as improving the immune system, lowering blood pressure and reduces inflammation. Additionally, this wonderful plant aids sleep, digestion and helps anxiety.
- Reishi, a medicinal mushroom also helps the immune system, aids sleep and reduces fatigue as well as reducing stress.
- Carob has an amazing flavour an is sometimes used to replace chocolate. It can help with weight loss, reduce blood sugar and insulin levels, and lower bad cholesterol.
- Cinnamon is also known to balance blood sugar and improve cholesterol.
Apple Cinnamon Walnut Porridge Overnight Oats
This recipe makes an amazing over night oats which require no cooking or prep in the morning. Prep the night before and have straight from the fridge in the morning. Add the oats and milk to a bowl and mix thoroughly, cook the apples according to the recipe and mix through the oats and milk, sprinkle over the superfood powder or ground cinnamon, walnuts and add the honey. Cover with clingfilm and leave over night. In the morning you have the most delicious and nutritious breakfast without having to do a thing! The flavours are even better after the overnight infusion.

Chop the apple in approximately 3 cm cubes. Add them to a small saucepan with the butter or oil. Cook gently for 6 – 8 minutes. Once softened put aside into a bowl.

In the same pan, cook the oats with the milk for a few minutes until creamy.

Serve in a bowl add the apple, walnuts, honey and superfood powder or ground cinnamon and enjoy!
